How to Play

Get from the top rung to the bottom rung of the ladder by changing one letter at a time. Each rung of the ladder must be a valid dictionary word. Keep going down the ladder until you reach the final word.

Example

Let's go from GLOW to HEAT, changing only one letter at a time.

The letter that was changed from the previous word has a box around it.

The letter turns GREEN when you have the correct letter in the correct spot.

Strategies

  1. Focus on vowels first. Vowels are more flexible and often create more valid words when changed.
  2. Work from both ends. Sometimes it's easier to work backward from the target word and meet in the middle.
  3. Watch for consonant clusters. Breaking up or forming common clusters like "th", "sh", "pl", etc. can open new pathways.
  4. Consider the distribution of changes needed. Identify how many letters need to change and in which positions before starting.
  5. Create temporary pivots. Sometimes you need to transform the word into something completely different before heading toward your target.
